Congratulations to the newly-elected Norton Singers board of directors for the 2019-20 season! Our annual board meeting was held Wednesday night at the Norton Media Center and the following individuals were voted in:
President: Anna McReynolds
Vice President: Heather Carey
Treasurer: Teri Paine Fleming
Recording Sec: Joan Geddry
Corresponding Sec: Melissa Franklin
Artistic Director: Ted Mitchell
Members at large:
Val Cabral, Myra Schwartz, TM Thompson, Peter Turner, Corbett Thursby, Michael Stanley, Caryn Barker and Sonya Spongberg.
“I’m impressed with how the group has grown in one short year, finishing up with a stellar production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood that was well attended and artistically fulfilling,” said Anna McReynolds. “We’ve doubled our number of shows we produce, secured a permanent location for sets, successfully moved to a new ticket/seating model, diversified our venue options, upgraded our logo and visual style, and are more open access than ever before. And we have an amazing series of shows planned for the 75th. Truly, the best is yet to come!”
And what are the shows planned for the group’s 75th anniversary season?
• Chess in Concert: directed by Ted Mitchell; music direction by Anthony-Alexander Torelli; a one night only concert with a 25-piece orchestra, held September 6
• Hooray for Hollywood (a musical tribute to the Silver Screen): directed by Melissa Franklin; held in November
• Keeping the Love Alive (celebrating everyone's favorite night of love, back by popular demand!); held in February
• Mamma Mia!: directed by Ted Mitchell; music direction by Anthony-Alexander Torelli; June 12-21
• Yes, season tickets will be available! More to come on that front.
Come join in the fun! The adventures begin in a few weeks, with auditions for the Chess, being held on Monday and Tuesday, July 8 and 9 at the Norton Media Center. To receive an appointment, email tefleming17@gmail.com with your preferred date and Teri Paine Fleming will schedule your time. And, for more information, visit our Facebook audition “Save the Date.”
